Question

During my visit to Georgia, I was arrested in Henry County for Public Intoxication County Ordinance and I have never been arrested before. I posted bail and I'm back home but I'm worried of how this will affect my record or does it?

Do I have to make the appearance on my court date or can I find an Attorney to do it for me?

What type of consequences may I be looking at?

Answer

You can retain an attorney, and have the attorney represent you in absentia. If you elect to enter a plea, the ordinance will not appear on an criminal history. If you elect to fight the case, it may result in a dismissal. View website for qualification: www.lawrencelewispc.com Good luck.

Answer

You need to get a lawyer. If you fail to appear you will be a fugitive and can be arrested and extradited. A lawyer may be able to help you do better in the case, or to enter a plea in absentia. Since you would usually not want to have a criminal record if you do have defenses, coming back with counsel may be smart.
