Question

We sold our home in May. The buyers hired an inspector to conduct an inspection on the home and the inspector listed the roof as normal wear and tear. We also had our insurance send an agent out and they said it was normal wear and tear. Now the new buyers are being told that their is hail damage done to the home that occurred the day of closing or shortely before closing and they are directing us to submit it to our insurance to fix it for them. We paid them $10,500.00 instead of making requested repairs. Are we responsible for fixing the roof?

Answer

Without a review of the agreement concerning the $10,500 or the purchase agreement your inquiry cannot be answered directly. However, the general rule is that the seller is responsible for the condition of the home up until closing.
