Question

There was a fire in the home that I rent on 6/13/11. A contractor was hired 6/14/11, and we were told it would take 6-8 months to restore the home and we could move back in. The owner of the house is out of state. The contractor still has not completed the job, 14.5 months later, after giving the owner many target completion dates and not meeting them. They do not show up to work at this house for weeks at a time! Are they allowed to drag this out this long? It is not a permitting or inspection issue, by the way. Permits and inspections have been very timely

Answer

Who knows why it has been dragged out this long? The contractor will have all sorts of excuses. Are you sure you want to live there? I would find another place.
