I slipped and fell on my back pretty hard while working. I was wearing non-slip shoes, and the reason for the fall was due to a body of water that formed because of a drain malfunction. I drove myself home, but on every turn there was a constant pain in my back and nothing improved upon a shower and laying down. I'm weary as to what my next step should be, as I've never claimed any workers comp before and I have no health insurance- but I feel as though the pain isn't going away and the longer I wait before I get help the more damage may occur. What do I do next?
Answer
Report the injury immediately to your employer. It's a worker's compensation claim. They should cover your treatment costs and if you have to be out of work, a portion of your wages. Good luck.
Answer
You have to report the injury within 30 days to abide by Chapter 440. You need to specifically ask for medical care. If no care is provided, you can seek care on your own and you will be able to get reimbursed. Seek some legal advice as soon as possible.
