Question

Can a biological parent permanently relinquish her rights without naming an adoptive parent? In this situation, two children are living with a temporary guardian who may not wish to adopt. The mother wishes to relinquish her rights at this time, and leave the guardian the option of either adopting or recruiting an adoptive family. Neither the parent nor the guardian want to turn the children over to the jurisdiction of the state.

Answer

It is unlikely that a mother can escape the duty to provide support. She probably cannot give someone else the authority to appt out the children without the involvement of the state.

Good luck
