At the age of 16 I was given a Christmas gift of a laptop computer. Now that i am 18 I am being kicked out and my parents say they own the computer. Since it was a gift who, by law, owns the compputer?

The computer belongs to you. If they refuse to give it to you, sue them for conversion (demand IN WRITING that they return it to you, and give them 30 days to comply. And enclose a copy of your Plaintiff's Original Petition that you're going to file).
