I am a reluctant landlord (couldn't sell my underwater-mortgage house). Nice house/property. (4 br/3 bath/3000+ sq ft). My renters reported that the refrig/freezer quit working on a Sunday morning. I was able to get refrig repair man out the following Friday (they couldn't meet him on Thursday). They are claiming me liable for contents of the refrig/freezer and plan to withhold the money from next months rent. Is this valid/legal?
