Question

I have retained a lawyer I have never met. The paralegal has done a the work and answered questions. I don't have a copy of the retainer, but am told they will take 33% out of my first disability check which will be mailed to them. I asked if the money would go to her or the lawyer. She said it would ho to the firm. I asked why I had never met the lawyer and was told the case was done through administration. Do I pay lawyer fee or administration fee?

Thank you,

Lisa Moses

Answer

You don't hire lawyers you never met, and it is possible you are being scammed by a paralegal illegally pretending to practice law. Reputable lawyers use retainer agreements and meet their clients. Contact the state bar of Georgia to report the paralegal and "lawyer" and find a real lawyer for your case.
