Question

Hi. I'm a 37 year old male. I posted a question not long ago about my childhood, in which my mother abused me. Apparently she is protected my statutes of limitations now and so I can't sue her. Here's a caveat though. Although I was aware of this abuse for years it wasn't until 1 year ago when my 1st child, a boy, was born that all those horrible images and emotions resurfaced. I somehow was able to table the abuse for years, while I was active in school, work and with social groups. So is there a way, given that info, I can still go after her?

Thanks

Answer

Depends on the nature of the abuse. Suppressed memories can be grounds for tolling certain limitations periods, but not many.
