What to do if your lawnmower 2-stroke engine has a varying RPM problem?
RPM variation in a 2-stroke can be caused by several reasons, but the most common is fuel supply. Check the external fuel filter, if it has one, if not, check the fuel pick-up filter inside the fuel tank. If the filter is not the problem next check the float and the needle valve and seat. If the float-needle is not moving freely it will need replaced. The variation in RPM is usually caused by fuel starvation then brief recovery in repeated cycles.
