How long can a person be held with out being charged with a crime?
My grandson is being held for the fottowing:

Your grandson is looking at some very, very serious charges. He has been charged and has an attorney appointed to represent him - the public defender's office.
He does have certain rights to a speedy preliminary hearing and a speedy trial, so in order to go beyond those time frames, they must have his consent and agreement. He and his attorney may still be awaiting discovery from the prosecution, doing their own investigation or preparing for upcoming hearings.
Cases such as this may take a while to sort out - the only person able to answer the "why" of this is his lawyer.
