Question

My truck was towed to a mechanic shop and was told my truck needed $450 worth of repairs I told the mechanic not to fix it because i didn't have that kind of money. So Yesterday I got a call that my truck was ready and my grand total is $899.87. So my question is Do I owe that money after i instructed for him not to fix it?? please help

Answer

No. However, if he is holding your car hostage, you could pay the 900, then you could sue mechanic in justice court for the $900 and up to an additional $2,600 in other damages, if any. Alternatively, you could file for a writ of replevein in justice court, requesting an order requiring the mechanic to return the vehicle to you.
