Question

Would a family be affected if one of the members is charged with fraud? Or would it be the sole responsibility of that member? For example, what would happen if the accused fled to another country or died?

Answer

Punishment can only be applied to person(s) who are charged and provided due process, which means that they are provided notice of the charge, as well as their other constitutional rights, and ultimately a conviction. If a family member is not charged nor convicted, no punishment can be applied.
