How many pennies can fit in a semi truck?
In most US states, a semi can only weight 80,000 lbs fully loaded, and for a long-haul truck, that rarely allows more than about 47,000 lbs of cargo... So, a truck could legally carry about seven million of the old copper pennies, or about eight and a half million on the newer zinc ones.
But... If you didn't have to worry about the weight, you could fit over two hundred fifty-five million pennies into a standard 53 foot van trailer.
The trailer would collapse, though... Just the pennies would weigh over half a million pounds - more than seven fully loaded semi's!
